The City of Hobart's August 2022 'Making Tracks' newsletter highlights the track / trail works that the Hobart City Council has planned for 2022-23.
They are working toward delivering two major new connections from the edge of Hobart, reaching deep into the foothills network of kunyani / Mt Wellington (subject to planning / approvals outcomes), namely:
- Pipeline Track – a new 2 km dual direction shared use connection (green) from Waterworks (Site 9) up to McDermott's Saddle and a range of works from Neika to Waterworks to improve the surface conditions for walkers, runners and riders.
- Knocklofty to McRobies – a new 3 km shared use track from the top of the Yellow Hippo to the top of the Slides which will fill a critical gap in the network and ultimately create a seamless connection from Knocklofty across to Wellington Park.
This coming year will also include stage two of the Zig Zag track refurbishment and a new path to better connect the City to the Botanical Gardens across the lower part of the Domain.
